Announcing The Passing Of Longtime Industry Executive Ezra Davidson
Dan Rayburn | Monday January 5, 2009 | 04:19 PM
I wanted to pass along the sad news that Ezra Davidson, former co-founder of SyncCast and a previous writer for StreamingMedia.com passed away over the New Year's holiday. Sadly, he was killed by a family member who the LA Times is reporting is being charged with his death.
Ezra was a long time veteran of the online video industry and co-founded SyncCast in 1998 which he departed in 2007 when it was sold to Technicolor. While I never got to know Ezra on a personal level, through our business relationship he was a friendly guy who was always excited to talk about the online video industry. Every time I saw him at a Streaming Media show he was always laughing and had a smile on his face.
Some of his friends have put up a memorial website with more details on Ezra's background and photos of Ezra with some of his colleagues.
Updated: The family welcomes all those who knew Ezra if they want to attend the service.

Ezra was an industry veteran who had a childlike enthusiasm for all things streaming. He was always a pleasure to talk with and I already feel the loss of his presence.

My post from Ezra's Facebook Page:
Ezra,
You and both know we had our moments but one thing I won't ever forget is that laugh of yours when we talked about business. I was really proud of you and Lance when you sold SyncCast and it was great to see all the other things you were capable of like your writing and consulting and advising.
You will definitely be missed in our community. Vaya con Dios mi Amigo.

Ezra was a fanatic about technology and a wonderful dealmaker to work with. I will miss his enthusiasm and understanding, he will sorely be missed.

We did not get to know you personally since you moved into the neighborhood. We perhaps just once or twice. I regret not making more of an effort to know you better. Needless to say we are shocked at the tragedy and pray for you and your family.

Sorry to hear about this; I didn't know Mr. Davidson and I apologize if this is the wrong place for a technical inquiry, but who is in charge of maintaining DRM for the Terminator 2 Extreme DVD? - the license server is down. Apparently this was one of Mr. Davidson's projects.
