Move Networks Announces New CEO: Former DIRECTV President And COO
Dan Rayburn | Monday July 13, 2009 | 02:50 PM This afternoon, Move Networks announced that it has appointed Roxanne Austin as the new President and CEO of the company. For the past five years Roxanne was President of Austin Investment Advisors, a private investment and consulting firm focused on new media and technology and before that, was president and COO of DIRECTV.
I'll be speaking to Roxanne in about an hour and will update this post after my call. You can read about my conversation with Roxanne in a new post here.

I guess my big question is "Where does Move go now" With Adobe and Microsoft and now Apple all offering chunked media offerings for delivery from web server caches for H.264/AAC video content in MPG4 format, how does Move differentiate themselves?

This is horrible for Move. She knows nothing of this business and must have been brought in for a fire sale. I'm sure she'll claim otherwise but there's really no other logical reason to have her there.

She's a sharp, big company CFO... not a great background for soemone who needs to determine quickly Move's contribution to the value chain and where they need to focus. I guess the DIRECTV experience will prove useful for the IPTV move. Having worked at DIRECTV and been in the business of streaming for 10 years I think I'm qualified to say that she is going to struggle.

Move Networks did recently get Comcast signed on according to the press... could get very interesting now that they have a large MSO on board.
Anyone else have any thoughts?
