Free Product Giveaway: Roku HD-XR Digital Video Player
The drawing is now closed. Last month Roku announced the launch of their new Channel Store and while I got hands on with the offering, I didn't have time to write up a review since I was at the Streaming Media West show. Winner: Josh B. from New York, NY.
In celebration of the launch, the nice folks over at Roku are letting me give away one Roku HD-XR unit to a reader of my blog. All you have to do is leave one comment on this post on why you want the Roku unit. Make sure you use your real name and a valid e-mail address and I'll pick one lucky user at random at the end of the month. on December 14th. A big thanks to Roku for the gear and for making a really kick-ass player, one of my favorite devices on the market today.

I've heard so many good things about Roku, I'd love to see what it's all about and in HD.

I need a little bit of good luck. A Roku would let me retire my aging XBox 360

I was quite fascinated with the Roku box when it came out, but didn't really think I needed one. My roommate had 360 Live and we were able to stream our Netflix via this format. Well... that is until said roommate got banned from XBox Live several weeks ago along with 1 million other Live users. Now, sadly, I'm streamless, and could *really* use a Roku box! Thanks!

Roku box would be cool. I could stream things to my tv instead of watching on a laptop.

I'd love it for my Netflix! yay!

There has to be a reason? ... It is a RoKu, right?

Roku seems like they're on a roll and headed in the right direction by making their platform open to channels from any developer who wants to stream to their device. I'm excited to see (hopefully firsthand, if I win the player) what channels come next. What they've started with -- Pandora, Flickr, Facebook, Revision3, Mediafly, etc. -- is pretty fantastic already.

I also want a Roku to stream Netflix! Better than buying another Blu-ray!

I really like this one and that unit will make all family really happy, specially now for the holidays. But since I lost my job 8 months ago, I can't afford to buy it. I guess this unit will be outstanding gift for my family of 6.
Thanks, Eddie.

There is a massive change underway in the mobile media market as it becomes unshackled from the operators’ portals that have dominated it for a decade, all without having made any significant inroads into the content use of mobile users. The new capped data packages, fuelled by further competition, will see a total revamp of the mobile media market. It will no longer be based on portals but on direct services by content and services providers via open source phones and mobile-friendly Internet-based services. The next step is the continued emergence of m-commerce and in particular m-payment services.

I really like the addition of the WiFI n support and am intrigued by the USB port and what is coming in the future for this device.

No way... I've been shopping for a DVR for the last month. This would be perfect, I wouldn't be faced with the prospect of committing Seppuku from information overload!

I have not ventured into the realm of streaming video appliances primarily because I have no pressing need in my professional life to learn about them. It would be fun to figure out how to use streaming for home entertainment. Sign me up for a chance at it!

The Roku box seems to be the best of a somewhat confused lot in the STB marketplace, would love to try one out.

Because it has so many uses, would be a great item for the kids to watch the many kids shows and listen to radio with Pandora. Videos on Motionbox would be good to share.
Keep us out of the video store and at home more during the holidays.
Christmas is coming up and can just pick our favorite Christmas special to watch on Netflix as we want.
